PTLLS Teacher Training Courses
PTLLS - Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Level 3 / 4)
We offer our popular courses leading the the PTLLS award for those primarily wanting to undertake a teaching role within the lifelong learning sector (post-compulsory education). This award is now specified as the minimum requirement for teachers and trainers within this sector under legislation since 2007 and also by a variety of awarding bodies to deliver thier qualifications.
The course is for both those both new to teaching or without prior experience, and those with teaching experience who need to gain the award or update their existing teaching or training knowledge and techniques. The course is assessed by completing five assignments relating to the teaching role and being observed teaching in a small group 'micro-teach' environment.
We offer two ways of completing the course:
- '1 Week' Intensive - over 4 full consecutive days. This is the most popular option for learners, combining the theory with practical sessions througout the course. Courses are run over one week every month.
- 'Blended Learning', where learners work towards their award alongside their everyday work and family commitments. This approach involves a half day induction and orientation, support throughout by both tutors and our dedicated 'portal' website, along with a final half day 'micro-teach observation' and course conclusion. The induction and conclusion half days are run on the same day, monthly over the year, so learners can chose the pace of completing the award that suits them. This conclusion session can be from between 1 and 11 months afterwards, although the overall award has to be completed within a timescale of one year from induction.
